North West GA Science Bowl

Eight young people from Calhoun High have qualified for entry into the Northwest GA regionals of the National Science Bowl. Kennesaw State University will host 16 teams from our region on Saturday, January 27.  The top 32 teams from eight Georgia regionals will qualify for the Georgia state championships at Armstrong Atlantic State University in Savannah on February 24. The GA champion will travel to the National 4H Congress at the University of Maryland in late April with 65 other finalists for the national championship. The National Science Bowl is sponsored by the US Department of Energy.  We are very proud that CHS is the first school northwest of Cobb County to enter this regional.

Team One:  Casey Butler, Senior (Captain); Michael Butler , Sophomore (also a 2-year veteran of the National Ocean Science Bowl team, CHS academic team and member of the 2007 Beta Bowl team); Joey Garcia, Junior (member of the CHS RESA Bowl  and academic teams); and Clifford Lance, Freshman (captain of the JV RESA team and first-year member of the National Ocean Science Bowl and CHS academic team).

Team Two:   Gail Smith, Freshman (Captain; member of the CHS RESA Bowl and academic teams); Annie Miles , Freshman (member of the National Ocean Science Bowl team); Leanne Reagin, Freshman (member of the CHS RESA and academic teams); and Rebecca Layson , Freshman.
