Each year, the Calhoun Gordon Council for a Literate Community recognizes a student or group of students for the Academic Achievement of the Year Award. This year the Council has selected Calhoun High School's Project Success students. Project Success students have earned their program $1,000.00 as the recipients of the Academic Achievement of the Year Award.
This awesome group of young people sent 28 students to compete at the region level in vocational categories (i.e. culinary arts, wood working, horticulture, etc.) and 25 took 1st or 2nd place qualifying for state competition. Of those 25 students, 18 placed as state finalists at the VOCA State Conference at Jekyll Island, GA. The CHS chapter was also given a superior rating for Chapter of the Year. Sponsors Lynn Davis and Polly Brown are proud of the accomplishments of these students, and are extremely grateful to the Council for a Literate Community for this award.
