Hi! My name is Heidi Allen, and I am excited to begin my first year as counselor at Calhoun Middle School! This will be my 19th year in education. I began my career as a science teacher at Upson Lee Middle School in Thomaston, Georgia before pursuing my masters degree in School Guidance and Counseling. I then served as the 8th grade counselor at Upson Lee Middle School for three years prior to moving to Calhoun. I began my career with Calhoun City Schools in 2003 and served as one of the high school guidance counselors for ten years. During that time, I earned my specialist degree from Piedmont College in Teaching and Learning. Having spent eight years at a middle school, as both a teacher and counselor, followed by ten years at a high school, I was very excited when the opportunity arose for me to return to the middle school setting. I feel very blessed to be able to use my background from both the middle and high school settings to help our middle school students adjust to middle school life and prepare for the transition to high school. I will also continue to serve as a counselor at Calhoun High School as part of a counseling team as needed.
I am married to John Allen of Lindale, Georgia. We have a son, Reed, who is currently a sophomore at the United States Air Force Academy. Our daughter, Kat, is a senior at Calhoun High School. Our youngest son, Davis, is currently a 7th grader at Calhoun Middle School. I look forward to working with students and parents to ensure all students have a safe and productive middle school experience and leave 8th grade ready to meet the challenges of high school! Please feel free to contact me anytime to discuss your child's education.
