Mission Statement:
The mission of the Calhoun Primary/Elementary Media Center is to provide instruction and utilization of information literacy skills with both print and non-print resources, to promote the development of critical thinking, and to instill an appreciation of literature.  Existing and emerging technologies will be used to provide individual and group opportunities and equal access for students.

Read Across America Week

We will be celebrating Read Across America Week to honor Dr. Seuss' birthday (March 2), during the week of March 1-5.  A different Dr. Seuss book will be highlighted each day.  Students and staff are invited to participate in the dress up day activities for each book. 

Monday:  Fox in Socks - Wear crazy/silly socks

Tuesday:  Green Eggs and Ham - Wear green

Wednesday:  My Many Colored Days - Wear colorful clothing

Thursday:  I Am Not Getting Up Today - Wear pajamas

Friday:  Cat in the Hat - Wear your favorite hat

 

Book Fair
The Half-Price Book Fair is scheduled for May 3-7.  It will be open daily from 8:00-2:30, but will close at noon on the 7th.  A Family Night Event is planned for Tuesday, May 4 from 3:00-7:00.  If you are interested in volunteering at the book fair, please email Mrs. Garrett at garrettj@calhounschools.org.  
Six Flags Six Hour Reading Club
Students are currently participating in the Six Flags Six Hour Reading Club.  All students who read at least 6 hours and log their time will reveive a free pass to Six Flags Over Georgia.  All reading logs should be submitted to homeroom teachers no later than February 26, 2010.  No late entires will be accepted.  Happy Reading!
