Hello!! My name is Laura Payne. This is my 16th year teaching at Calhoun High School and my 22nd year teaching. I am a native of Calhoun—I was born just down the road at the old hospital. I did not attend Calhoun City Schools as I lived in the county, but all three of my children graduated from Calhoun High School. I delayed my teaching career until my youngest child entered kindergarten. I decided I wanted to teach as an eighth grader—it just took me a little longer to realize my dream. I do not, however, regret staying home with my children! I received my BS and MEd in Family and Consumer Sciences from Berry College and my EdS from Piedmont College. My husband, Si, and I live in Cartersville. We have 5 grown children and 6 angels (my name for my grandchildren.) I enjoy cooking, reading and scrapbooking. I chose to teach Family and Consumer Sciences because I want to make a difference in my students lives and I am honored to be a part of your student’s life.
