2012 Season Wrap up:
As the 2012 Cross Country season has now come and gone, we have a chance to look back and reflect on successful campaigns for both teams...
Collectively, the boys' and girls' teams brought home a total of 34 medals and 5 trophies on the season!
The boys ended the season with a 3 meet winning streak and the first Region Championship in school history! Leading the way for the Jackets throughout the season was 8th grader Jason Sosa. Jason was the champion in 3 of the 6 meets the team participated in and was in the top 10 at every meet. He was also the BGMSAA overall Region Champion and won a medal at every meet this season. Also winning a medal at all 6 meets on the season was another 8th grader, Esvin Garcia. Esvin finished in the top 10 of every meet with his best finish coming at the Region Championship with his Region Runner-up performance to teammate Jason. Other major contributors for the Jackets included Eric Garcia (who finished in the top 10 on 3 occasions including 5 medals), 7th grader Devon Martinez (medaled twice), 6th grader David Jones (medaled once), 7th grader William Roblero, and 6th graders Brock Parker and Gregory Carr.
The girls completed their season with a 4th place finish, just 2 points away from a 3rd place finish. Leading the Lady Jackets throughout the season was 7th grader Emily Driscoll. Emily was the best performer for the Lady Jackets on 4 different occasions with her highest finish being a 4th place finish at the Coosawattee Trail Run. She had a 6th place finish at the Region Championship and also tallied 5 medals throughout the season. 8th grader Meri Kathryn Black was the top performer for the Lady Jackets twice on the season with her best finish a first place finish at the Phoenix Nest Run early in the year. She also brought home 5 medals on the season and highlighted her career with a 9th place finish at the Region Championship. Other major contributors for the Lady Jackets included 7th grader Michelly Huitanda (medaled once), 8th grader Wendy Rodriguez, and 6th graders Chloe Fitch and Ryleigh Roberts.
Congratulations to both teams on successful seasons! Go Jackets!!!
