2013 Season Wrap Up:
The 2013 season came to an end October 3rd with both girls’ and boys’ groups going out with great performances. On the season, both teams combined for an impressive 27 medals, 6 team trophies, and 1 school record broken.
They girls’ ended in a very tight region finish with a 5th place finish overall. 2nd – 5th place were seperated by a mere 20 points. Emily Driscoll ended her middle school career the same way she began it, as the top finisher for the girls’ team for the 3rd consecutive year. Emily finished 7th overall for the girls’ and also finished her middle school career with the school record in the 2-mile run with her time of 12:23. 6th grader Xiomara Ruiz also medaled with her 18th place finish. 8th grader Michelly Huitanda finished just 3 places out of a medal finish with her 23rd place finish. 7th grader Jaide Johns brought home a 39th place finisher for the Lady Jackets and 6th grader Abbey O’Shields rounded out scoring with her 43rd place finish.
On the boys’ side, the Jackets were also in a tight region finish, but were able to post a Region Runner Up finish. 8th grader Devon Martinez was the top finisher for the Jackets with his 5th place finish. Devon was also the top finisher for the entire season. Fellow 8th grader Dylan Webb was also a medal winner for his 15th place finish. 6th grader Gavin Parker also claimed a medal with his 20th place finish. Teammate Gregory Carr, a 7th grader, just missed out on a medal with his 21st place finish. 7th grader Irvin Campos rounded out scoring for the Jackets with his 43rd place finish to help seal the Jackets Runner Up finish. The boys’ team has either been Region Champion or Region Runner Up in three out of the last four years.
