Meet Mr. Hawkins
Hello ! I am Jason Hawkins, and I have the humbling honor and privilege of serving as your Assistant Principal at Calhoun Elementary School. I am a proud product of the Calhoun City Schools, having started my educational journey here in 1978. After graduating from Calhoun High School in 1991, I was employed by Calhoun City Schools beginning in 1993. I have worked in maintenance, KEEP after school programs, Community Education, extensively as a substitute teacher, as a 4th and 5th Grade classroom teacher, and in administration. In 2005 I was selected by my peers as Calhoun Elementary School Teacher of the Year. My first administrative position was as Assistant Principal at CES in 2008-09. I was then able to enjoy 2 wonderful years serving in the same capacity at Calhoun Primary School. My wife Candi is also a product of Calhoun City Schools. She teaches the Green Frogs class at Calhoun Pre-K, and we have a daughter, Bailey Beth. We are already eagerly anticipating the day she enrolls as a student. I am an active member of the Gordon County Optimist Club and I also serve on several Chamber of Commerce committees including Drugs Don’t Work, Education and Work Force Preparation, and Young Professionals. Some of my hobbies include spending time with my family, Calhoun Yellow Jacket sports, Atlanta Braves baseball, Georgia Bulldogs football, Star Wars collecting, reading, watching movies, autograph and sports memorabilia collecting, and listening to music. I look forward to partnering with you to make your child’s experience at CES successful, as our motto is to “Expect Success.” Please do not hesitate to call upon me if I may ever be of service to you.

Roles/Responsibilities
As the Assistant Principal at Calhoun Elementary School, I work very closely with students, staff members, and family members to ensure that every student has the opportunity to reach their full potential and reach the highest level of success. At CES, we continually Expect Success and everything we do is designed with the needs of boys and girls at the forefront. Our school has a rich tradition of excellence, and my job is to help ensure that tradition continues for all boys and girls. Our goal is to consistently have a safe, orderly, efficient, and well equipped facility while using the best instructional practices available. We work diligently to provide wonderful instruction, but we also want to help create some special memories that will last a lifetime and serve as a catalyst for all children to develop a love for learning and coming to school each day. The partnership between school and home is something we appreciate tremendously, so let me invite and encourage you to be as involved as possible with your child’s educational journey. If I can ever be of service, please do not hesitate to contact me. Working together we can make sure that each child is a success story and each day is, indeed, the BEST Day of the Year at Calhoun Elementary.
