CHS Teacher of the Year: Andrew Bowen
Andrew Bowen is Calhoun High School's Teacher of the Year. He is in his 8th year of teaching mathematics. He taught at Adairsville High School for four years and served as the Assistant Band Director. He has been at CHS for 4 years. He graduated from Berry College in 2003 with a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics Education. He also has earned a Master's Degree from Capella University in Administration and Supervision. Mr. Bowen has been married to Charity Bowen since 2004. They have two children, Olivia(age 2) and Isaiah(1 month). He also serves as a Children’s Minister at Holly Creek Baptist Church in Chatsworth.
Andrew was also nominated as the Teacher of the Year last school year. When asked how he felt about winning this year, Andrew replied, "It is an honor to be nominated by my peers and humbling to be chosen amongst such a great faculty". Principal Kelly Bumgardner stated, "Mr. Bowen is an exceptional teacher who captures the student's attention by using amusing sounds and voices. It isn't unusual to see him jumping around in his classroom. Andrew is well respected by his peers and his commitment to impact the lives of youth extends beyond the classroom. I am very proud of the faculty's selection".
