National Ocean Sciences Bowl: CHS has competed in the Southern Stingray Georgia/South Carolina Finals since 2006. Mr. Bennett has ten years of experience in this competition.  The regionals are held at Savannah State University in February each year.  Competition rules and format can be found at www.nosb.org.  The winning regional team receives an all expense paid trip in April to the national finals.  All regional competitors receive tshirts, posters, science texts and free housing and meals in Savannah.  The school receives several lab items, reference works and invitations to many marine biology and oceanography workshops.

Each graduating senior who has spent at least one year in the competition can compete for the NOSB scholar award ($4k).

In addition, CHS participates in the NOSB “Living on an Ocean Planet” video competition. Our 2010 team won third in the eastern US and 8th in the nation.  Mrs. Greta Hughes has graciously helped our video team with editing and compiling their submission for the past two years.
