
Congratulations to the Calhoun High School Literary Team who placed First overall at the 7 AA Region Literary Competition and State Runner-Up at the State Competition!
HS Literary Team Wins the Region
Calhoun High School wins region literary competition for excellence in performing arts, speech and writing. Members of the Calhoun High School Literary Team competed on Friday, March 9th at the 7AA Region competition. CHS was region champion with 4 first place wins and many runner-up awards.
The awards were as follows:
Marcello Audino: 1st place Boy’s Dramatic Interpretation
Lauren Little: 1st place Girl’s Dramatic Interpretation
Parker Davis: 1st place Boy’s Soloist
Marcello Audino, Logan Daniel, Davis Husk and Chris Sapp: 1st place Men’s Quartet
Bailey Reeves: 2nd place Girl’s Soloist
Kate Leggett: 2nd place Girl’s Extemporaneous Speaking
Lloyd Bearden: 2nd place Boy’s Extemporaneous Speaking
Seth Johnson: 2nd place Boy’s Essay
Geanna Funes, Allie Gowens and Dallas Sims: 2nd place Girl’s Trio
Allie Gowens: 3rd place Girl’s Essay
CHS Literary Team: State Runner-Ups
The students who received a 1st place win at the 7AA Region Literary competition went on to compete at the AA State competition in Warner Robins last Saturday. CHS Men’s Quartet won their competition, making them state champions once again. The state champion quartet consists of seniors Chris Sapp, Marcello Audino, Logan Daniel, and freshman Davis Husk. Seniors Lauren Little and Marcello Audino placed 2nd in State in the area of Dramatic Interpretation. Senior Parker Davis competed in the boy’s solo event against the top soloists in the state. Casey Parker, CHS Choral Director stated, “It was a great day to be a Yellow Jacket and we are very proud to share that we are the State runner-up winners for the overall AA Literary event. We are thrilled with continuing the tradition of excellence within the Calhoun High School Performing Arts department!”
