This is my 26th year in education. I began my teaching career as an elementary school teacher in the Carroll County School System where I taught Title One Math for 2 years. I spent the next 8 years teaching 4th grade at Cartersville Elementary School. While working on my bachelor’s degree in middle grades education at night and teaching during the day, I realized that students need so much more than just academic information. They needed support and understanding along with skills for coping with all sorts of problems. I felt God calling me to address these needs as a school counselor. I decided to add on to my masters with a degree in School Guidance and Counseling.
I spent 2 more years teaching at Upson-Lee Elementary School in Thomaston, Georgia, before finally becoming a school counselor. I served as counselor for Upson-Lee Middle School for 2 years before moving to Calhoun. My first year with Calhoun City Schools was spent teaching 5th grade at Calhoun Elementary School. I then transferred to the high school as guidance counselor. Wow! What a change! I never dreamed I would be here for this long, but here I am 12 years later! I enjoy working with the high school staff, and much to my surprise, I truly love working with high school students. Each student has a story and his/her journey is not always easy. Their stories run through my mind as I watch them as they meet one of the biggest goals in their lives as they walk across the stage to receive their high school diplomas.
I am married to Coach Hal Lamb and am the mother of two sons, Tre and Ben. I enjoy playing and watching sporting events. It is such a joy to watch all of Calhoun’s teams as they pursue championships. Of course, I especially love to watch Yellow Jacket Football on Friday nights each fall.
