The mission of the Calhoun Primary/Elementary Media Center is to provide instruction and utilization of information literacy skills with both print and non-print resources, to promote the development of critical thinking, and to instill an appreciation of literature. Existing and emerging technologies will be used to provide individual and group opportunities and equal access for students.

Curriculum
The Georgia Performace Standards are taught along with Information Literacy Skills during all media center lessons. Our goal is to support the learning that is taking place in the classroom, and help mold the students to be locaters and users of information. Policies & Procedures
  • Students may visit the media center between the hours of 7:30 am and 3:30 pm.
  • Students in Grades 1-5 may check out two books for two weeks. Kindergarten students may check out one book at a time.
  • Students are responsible for losses and damages of any materials check out in their name.
  • Only media staff or those trained in the use of the Surpass circulation system are allowed to use the computer to check out books.
  • No equipment (other than Playaways) or videos can be checked out to students.
  • No Accelerated Reader tests will be taken after 3:00 pm. This is to ensure that no student (such as those in after school care) has an advantage over any other student.
  • Parents may check out up to five books at a time during school hours.
