Dear Parents:

For the first time in the history of Calhoun High School, students  will have access to student e-mail through Gaggle.net.  Every student will be offered a student e-mail account.  The use of student e-mail is an exciting opportunity for students and teachers alike.  It will be a wonderful communication tool for you son/daughter and his or her teachers; it also has the potential for greatly enhancing classroom instruction.  The following information will explain the nature of Gaggle.net:

What is Gaggle.net?

Gaggle.net is a web-based internet communication system.  Gaggle.net allows schools to feel secure when giving their students access to e-mail and other internet tools.

How Does Gaggle Work?

Gaggle makes internet communication safe because it gives the educator complete control.  Messages with offensive language, questionable domains, banned file tpes, or questionable images are automatically rerouted to the student's teacher first for review.  Also, the teacher can monitor all emails, sent and received.

E-mail is Educational

There is a special kind of learning that takes place when students interact via email.  The obvious learning activities include writing and typing.  Writing can be divided into many categories:  interpersonal communication, written conversation , question and answer, short essay, etc.  Students may also choose to receive electronic newsletters that contain items such as daily facts or words, historical events, poems, or political quotations.  Interpersonal exchange, especially via e-mail, will be a significant part of your son/daughter's life.  Gaggle.net provides a safe, educational experience with e-mail.

If you have any questions about the student e-mail, you may contact Vivian Moss @706-602-6812 or email:  mossv@calhounschools.org
