Meet Mrs. Veatch
Hello, I am Mrs. Beverly Veatch and am very excited to begin another  year at Calhoun Middle School! I will be teaching your child  Language Arts, and I will also be teaching  one  Social Studies class. This is my twenty- third year of teaching, and this will be my fifth year at Calhoun. I received my B.S. degree in Middle Grades Education from Berry College. I have been married to my high school sweetheart, Ricky,  for 36 years. We have three children:  Elizabeth, who is 34, teaches 8th grade at Menlo School in Chattooga County. Elizabeth and her husband, Jeffrey, have two sons: Griffin, age 10, and Gavin is 8. Whitney  is 32 and has a B.S. degree in nursing. She and her husband, Andy, have five-year-old twins: Jackson and Karsyn. My son Lee is 30 and works at Pirelli as  an  electrical robotic  technician. He and his wife LeAnn have two daughters. Libby Ann is 5, and Addie is 3.     

Teaching is such a rewarding profession, and I truly feel blessed to have the opportunity to teach and work with children.

Class Introduction
In 6th grade Language Arts we will be covering the Georgia Performance Standards. We will continue to focus on grammar, improving writing skills, and reading comprehension. I have a passion for reading, and hope that this enthusiasm will be contagious. Students are expected to participate and complete the “Dewey Decathlon”, which consists of reading 25 books over the course of the year. I look forward to working with you and your child.
