Meet Mrs. Futch
Hello!  My name is Cindy Futch, and I am greatly looking forward to being your child's teacher this year.  I am a Calhoun High School Graduate and have called this town my home all my life.  I am married to Matthew Futch and have two sons, Joshua and Elijah, who are yellow jackets at CES.  My husband is the pastor at Centerpoint Baptist in Dalton, Georgia, and I work with the children's ministry there as well.  I love to do photography, swim, shop, watch football and of course hang out with my family.   It is always exciting to start a new year with new faces, and I count it a true priviledge to teach and inspire all the students that walk through my classroom door each and everyday.  This will unbelievably be my 19th year of teaching at CMS, and WOW does time ever fly when you love what you are doing!  I strive diligently as a teacher to make each and every student to feel appreciated and important as they wrap up their middle school careers in the 8th grade.  It is my desire that your child will grow in many ways throughout this year's journey, and it will be an experience that will only add to his/her success for years to come.  Thank you for allowing CMS to take your child on this journey of learning and growing, and know that my door is always  open to you as a parent to take part as well in this exciting 8th grade adventure!

Class Introduction
I am excited to be teaching ELA yet another year and will be adding Georgia History to my schedule as well.   My goal is to teach the standards set by the state of Georgia by challenging my students to read a large variety of books, newspapers, magazines, diaries, journals, memoirs, and inspire them to read across the different content areas.  ELA and Georgia Studies will be many times combined to provide as much opportunity for students to read, write and communicate their findings about the state that we call home. Students will travel through time to read adventures such as Homer, Aesop, legends the world over, classical literature, science fiction and of course, Poe and Holmes.  Within the ELA content area, students will also continue increasing their grammatical skills as well as improve upon their writing and ability to research and do quality presentations frequently to enhance their communiction skills that will be greatly used in their future endeavors.  Our study of Georgia and its history should also prove to be valuable for your child and his/her understanding of the past, present and future of our great southern state.  Please feel free to visit our classroom of learning at any time throughout this school year!

Education
I graduated from Calhoun High School in 1987 and then headed to Tennesse Temple University where I earned a Bachelor of Science in Education and minor in Biblical Studies in 1990.   I started teaching ELA at CMS in January of 1991, and from 2000 until 2002 I attended Lincoln Memorial University and achieved my Masters in Administration and Educational Specialist Degree in Administration.  I have taught 6th grade at CMS for 15 years, ELT 6-8 for three and 8th grade for the past two years.  I have a Valid Georgia Certificate as a highly qualified teacher in the areas of reading, English, science, and social studies, and after almost two decades of teaching at CMS,  I still get excited when a new school year rolls around.
