I am excited to be teaching ELA yet another year and will be adding Georgia History to my schedule as well. My goal is to teach the standards set by the state of Georgia by challenging my students to read a large variety of books, newspapers, magazines, diaries, journals, memoirs, and inspire them to read across the different content areas. ELA and Georgia Studies will be many times combined to provide as much opportunity for students to read, write and communicate their findings about the state that we call home. Students will travel through time to read adventures such as Homer, Aesop, legends the world over, classical literature, science fiction and of course, Poe and Holmes. Within the ELA content area, students will also continue increasing their grammatical skills as well as improve upon their writing and ability to research and do quality presentations frequently to enhance their communiction skills that will be greatly used in their future endeavors. Our study of Georgia and its history should also prove to be valuable for your child and his/her understanding of the past, present and future of our great southern state. Please feel free to visit our classroom of learning at any time throughout this school year!
