Meet Mrs. Blair
Hi, and welcome to Kindergarten! My name is Terry Blair, and I have the privilege of teaching your child this year.  This is my 11th year of teaching at Calhoun Primary, and my tenth year as a Kindergarten teacher.  I spent many years raising my children before receiving my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education from Clemson University.  My husband, Jeff, and I moved our family several times before settling in Calhoun in 1997.   When my youngest child entered middle school, I decided to pursue my career as an elementary school teacher.  I received my Masters of Education from Kennesaw State University in 2009, and recently completed my degree of Education Specialist in the fall of 2010. Calhoun has been a wonderful place to raise my family. My three children, Dana, Michelle, and Scott, attended and graduated from Calhoun City Schools.  We love Calhoun and Calhoun football! Other family interests include traveling, and raising and training horses.  I am looking forward to the school year. It is going to be great!

Class Introduction
Kindergarten is a journey, not a race!  Your child will have the entire year to master the standards assessed through GKIDS, which is an ongoing assessment. Georgia Performance Standards drive the instruction for kindergarten.  You will be updated on your child’s progress through report cards every nine weeks. If your child needs help in a particular area, progress reports will be sent out mid-term. Students will be taught reading through flexible groups, so your child may go to another teacher for the subject. This is also true for intervention time. This makes learning more individualized and can be used for remediation or enrichment. Math and writing will be taught within the homeroom class. Science and social studies are embedded in the curriculum.
