2011-2012 CES Teacher of the Year: Holly Watts
Ms. Watts has taught 5th grade since 2006.  She earned her bachelor’s degree from Berry College in Exercise Science.  Her master’s degree is also from Berry College and it is in Early Childhood Education.  She is currently working on her specialist’s degree from Piedmont College in Teacher Leadership.  Ms. Watts coordinates the school’s hall monitor program that allows qualifying 5th grade students to develop leadership skills through morning and afternoon monitoring duties in the school.  Ms. Watts helps coach our 5th grade Math Fest Team and she serves on the Superintendant’s Advisory Committee.  She is a member of Calhoun Elementary School’s Interventions Better Seeker Team.  Ms. Watts believes that teaching is most effective when students are comfortable enough in the learning environment to take risks and even make mistakes.  It is her goal to help students make connections between concepts and she likes to use humor as a means of engaging students when possible.  Mrs. Watts is married to Tim Watts and has a son, Chase Watts, who attends Calhoun High School.
