Meet Mrs. Parker
My name is Casey Parker and I am excited about entering my 3rd year as choral director at Calhoun High School. This will mark my 12th year teaching, with 9 years previously spent at Calhoun Primary School. I knew from a very early age that I wanted to become a music teacher and share my love of music with others. It was the guidance from my elementary music teacher that inspired me to choose the path I am on today. I was honored to serve as Calhoun City School’s Teacher of the Year for the 2010 school year.
I studied for my undergraduate music degree at Mercer University and started my teaching career at Calhoun Primary School. After successfully finishing my first few years in the classroom, I enrolled in a masters program at Lincoln Memorial University where I concentrated on Educational Leadership and Administration. I continued my education in Administration and Supervision at LMU with their Ed.S program. My husband John is also in education and we have a beautiful daughter named Maggie. I love singing for special occasions (when I get the opportunity), scrapbooking and spending time with family and friends. If you have any questions throughout the school year feel free to contact me by phone or email. I look forward to another successful school year!

Class Introduction
I will be teaching Women’s Chorus (2 sections) and Men’s Chorus where we will be learning various repertoire to sing at concerts throughout the school year. There are many performance opportunities for students during the year: required chorus concerts, quartet/trio, football games, All-State Chorus, District Honor Chorus, DIVA Day, Harmony Fest and GHSA Literary competition. We stay extremely busy and involved all year round! I am co-teaching our Musical Theatre class with Julie Leggett. We are very excited about the performance possibilities for our students and our collaboration on the major works for the school year: One-Act play, Literary Competition, Spring Musical and Senior play. This class also concentrates on set design/construction and costume design. We will announce our shows at the beginning of the school year!
I am very excited about continuing my work with our 9th grade transition classes. I will be working closely with Tonya Turner on interventions and strategies for making sure all of these students feel successful.
I encourage all of my students and parents to stay informed about important events through the chorus webpage (on the CHS site) where you will find everything from the calendar of events to important upcoming reminders.
