Monday, October 29th was a good day for Calhoun Middle School’s boys and girls golf teams. The lady Jackets defended their crown well as they became back to back region champions with a team score of 107at the Bartow/Gordon Middle School Athletic Assoc (BGMSAA) region tournament at Cartersville Country Club. The playing was tough as usual with the golfers contending with very fast greens. The second place team Woodland was 25 strokes back at 132.
Kailey Duda again led the way for the ladies with a medalist score of 52. This was Kailey’s 3
rd consecutive individual region title winning all three years in middle school.
Kaitlyn Smith (6
th grade) had the other counting score for the ladies with an also impressive round of 55 which earned her runner-up medalist honors to Kailey’s score. Even though it didn’t count towards the ladies team score,
Kirsten Davis tied for 3
rd place individual honors with a score of 62.

The boys were edged out by Cartersville on their way to a runner-up finish with a score of 215, trailing Cartersville by four strokes, with Woodland getting 3
rd place at 227.
Josh Powell led the jackets with a 52 (which was good for 3
rd place individual honors).
Gabe Freeman’s 53,
Will Lovin’s 54 and
Hunter Rasbury/Greyson Arnold’s 56 rounded out the team score. The boys however finished the full season head to head match up with Cartersville tied 2-2. The Calhoun Middle School golf team is coached by Roger Gresham.
