
Calhoun High School had 39 students competing in the Georgia Career Students Assocation (GCSA) Region Competition at North Metro Tech on Friday, February 15
th. Of those 39 competitors 27 qualified to attend the State Competition in April of this year in Jekyll Island. Those going on to compete at Jekyll are: Kody Parker, Agricultural Science 1
st place; Chapter of the Year, Superior rating Daisy Guillen; Child Care and Development 2
nd place, Miriam Becerra; Communication Skills 2
nd place, Candy Cespedes; Community/Civic Awareness 2
nd place, Derikas Hines, Ashton Dorsey and Brittney Geary; Computer Applications 3
rd place Kyra Harris; Culinary Arts 1
st place, Courtney Hall; Fashion Design 1
st place, Brittany Vaughn; Graphic Arts 1
st place, Jesus Topete; Mathematical Applications 2
nd place Maya Watkins; Natural Resource Management 1
st place, Matthew Widener; Opening and Closing Ceremony; 1
st place, Erica Mays, Melfin Rodriguez, Marilyn Echeverria, Diana Guzman, Javier Villalobos, and Javier Salazar; School project 2
nd place, Brent Ivey, Anthony Salvatore, Shaq Evans, Delano Higginbotham and Katrice Royster; Video Production, Amanda Dodson, Nichole Ingle and Yesenia Rosas.
