The Calhoun High School Literary Team made an impressive standing at both regional and state levels this year.
On Tuesday, March 4, CHS took the runner-up trophy at Region 7AA Literary Events held at Pepperell High School. Winning entries included Boys’ Quartet and Girls’ Extemporaneous Speaking placing first; Girls’ Trio (Lindsey Deplanke, Stephanie Gibson and Katie Scott) and Boys’ Essay (Clifford Lance) taking second place; Girls’ Dramatic Interpretation (Ava Langford) and both Boys’ and Girls’ Solo (Eric Rosen, Sara Joyave) taking third place, and Boys’ Dramatic Interpretation(Patrick Wade) placing fourth.
On Saturday, March 15, first place winners from eight regions met at Houston County High School for the Georgia High School Association AA State Literary events. The CHS Boys’ Quartet, of Jacob Meadows, Andrew Bentley, Chris Allen and Eric Rosen, placed fourth. Kaitlin Defoor took the first place medal for Girls’ Extemporaneous Speaking. Kaitlin, a junior, placed second at the state level in the same event in her freshman and sophomore years.
