Juniors master CAN-struction

Just before school let out for the Christmas holidays Calhoun High School held their annual can drive but with a new twist. Each class was challenged to make a "Can-struction", a seasonal sculpture made of canned goods. The displays were "can-structed" in the media center. The Juniors' display won the competition and claimed bragging rights.

During this time the high school collected over 6,000 cans to be given to the Voluntary Action Center’s food pantry.  In addition CPS, CES, CMS, and Pre-K/Central Office also contributed another 2500 cans. Principal Wanda Westmoreland praised the students’ efforts, "It was a busy time with all the excitement of the play-offs, but the classes still pulled together and were very creative with their displays and they were very generous as always donating food items."
