The Student Teacher Achievement Recognition (STAR) is a Professional Association of Georgia Educators (PAGE) Foundation program of academic excellence recognition co-sponsored by the Georgia Chamber of Commerce and the Georgia Department of Education. The STAR student is determined by achieving the highest SAT score at one sitting on all three segments of the SAT by the November testing. The STAR student must also be in the top 10% of his graduating class. Hunter Hammond, son of David and Dana Hammond is this year's CHS STAR student. Hunter chose Ms. Jennie Chadwick as his STAR teacher.
