Retiring BOE Chairman Honored at Reception

Calhoun school board member, Ed Moyer, announced his resignation at the March 31st Board of Education work session following a move to Marietta. A reception was held in his honor Tuesday, April 21, from 5 to 6 p.m. prior to the April Board of Education meeting at the Calhoun Depot. Calhoun City School staff, family and friends attended to honor Moyer’s commitment to education.
Following are his sentiments and well wishes for the school district. "It is with a heavy heart that I must inform you that with my job reassignment to Emory-Adventist Hospital at Smyrna and subsequent move to Marietta that I must resign my position as Chairman of the Calhoun City Board of Education, effective April 6. Having served seven-and-a-half years on the school board, this has been a very difficult decision as I looked at job offerings. But I must follow as I am called to serve. I know I leave a system that has had many great successes and is one of the best kept secrets in the State of Georgia. My own children, as well as the children of Calhoun, have received an excellent education here in our city schools. The dedication of the teachers and support staff, Administrators and Central Office staff is overwhelming. My wishes are for continued successes to this fine system. I know I will continue to read and hear the praises of the work of all involved."
"His leadership and support of our students, teachers, administrators and community has been incredible," Superintendent Dr. Michele Taylor said. "He will be greatly missed." ed & principals.JPG
