Dr. Justin Lindsey
Exceptional Student Services Instructional Coordinator
Dr. Justin Lindsey is a lifelong resident of Northwest Georgia and 2009 graduate of Calhoun High School. Dr. Lindsey is committed to servant leadership and building authentic relationships with students, parents, teachers, and the community. He believes that public education opens the door to lifelong success for all students when combined with student centered learning, strong community partnerships, and innovative practices. Due to the tradition of excellence and steadfast community support, he considers it a privilege and honor to serve in any capacity at Calhoun City Schools.
Dr. Lindsey has been employed by Calhoun City Schools for ten years and most recently served as the Career and Technical Instruction (CTI) coordinator and Lead ESS teacher at Calhoun High School. As CTI Coordinator, he provided a variety of support to students enrolled in career technical agricultural education (CTAE) classes and led students at multiple state level trainings and conferences sponsored by Georgia CTI. He began his career as a paraprofessional at Calhoun High School before working as an ESS teacher of multiple subjects in the resource and inclusion setting at Calhoun Middle School for 8 years. As ESS Instructional Coordinator, Dr. Lindsey will support all ESS teachers and students throughout the district.
Dr. Lindsey earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Ecology and Field Biology at Shorter University, a Master of Education in Special Education at Walden University, and a Doctor of Education in School Improvement at the University of West Georgia. He also holds a Certificate in School Management and Leadership from Harvard Graduate School of Education and a Leadership Certificate from Kennesaw State University. Dr. Lindsey was named as the 2020 Calhoun Middle School Teacher of the Year and 2020 Calhoun City Schools' Teacher of the Year. He was named a Dennis Washington Leadership Scholar by the Horatio Algers Association and also recognized North Georgia Autism Conference Teacher of the Year in 2017. As a coach, Dr. Lindsey was named Region 6-AAA Boys Coach of the Year and Girls Coach of the Year twice, Rome All Area Boys’ Cross Country Coach of the Year, three time Region Boys’ Soccer Assistant Coach of the Year, and Region Boys’ Assistant Cross Country Coach of the Year. He has been happily married for eight years to his wife Emily, who is a dietitian at AdventHealth Gordon. They enjoy serving the community, all things outdoors, spending time with family, running, traveling, and more.
