Meet Coach Smith
Hello!  My name is Diane Smith and I will be teaching Physical Education at Calhoun Middle School this year.  The 2014-2015 school year will mark my 39th year in education, all of those serving as a Physical Education teacher at CMS.  I am a proud graduate of Calhoun High School and was the first female athlete to receive an Athletic Scholarship from CHS.  I earned my Bachelors Degree in Health and Physical Education from Berry College.  I then continued my education by receiving a Masters Degree in Health and Physical Education from Jacksonville State University, and a Specialist Degree in Supervision and Administration from Lincoln Memorial University.  In addition to my teaching duties, I am the Head Softball Coach at Calhoun High School and I also serve as the Athletic Director for Calhoun Middle School.  I am married to Coach Jerry Smith (retired math teacher and football coach from CHS).  I have two daughters, Jaime Ralston Garrett (married to Dan Garrett) and Kayla Ralston.  Jaime is an Assistant Principal at Calhoun Primary/Calhoun Elementary.  Kayla is a recent graduate of Kennesaw State University with a degree in Health and Physical Education and will be working with Coach Jerry Pruett at Calhoun Elementary School. She is the JV Basketball Coach and the Assistant Varsity Basketball Coach at CHS.
