My name is Heather Duncan, and I am thrilled to be your child's teacher this year. I am a lifelong resident of Calhoun and am a proud graduate of Calhoun City Schools myself. After graduating, I received my undergraduate degrees in early childhood and special education from The University of North Georgia, a master’s degree in early childhood education from Valdosta State University, and a specialist degree in teacher leadership from Georgia College & State University. I am also reading, gifted, and ESOL endorsed. This year will be my 11th year teaching. I have taught fifth, fourth, and now third grade.
Third grade is a BIG year for learning as your child transitions from learning to read to reading to learn. Your child will also spend time deepening their understanding of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. My goal for your child is to not only help them become better readers, writers, and mathematicians this year, but to also help them develop a lifelong passion for learning. I look forward to an amazing year working together with you and your child! I truly feel blessed and consider it an honor to be your child's teacher.
