Steps to Become a Substitute Teacher

- Candidate must posses at least a high school diploma or GED.
- Evidence of being at least 21 years of age.
- Must consent to a background check.
- Complete an application for employment.
- Completion of the STEDI SubSkills Training Course.
In order for you to meet the requirements and be recommended to the CCS Board of Education, please follow the steps below:
Step 1: Complete the Application for Employment Application for Employment
Step 2: Complete the substitute training course (Required for all substitutes except for individuals who hold a Valid GA Teaching Certificate)
Step 3: After your application/packet has been received, please allow 2 weeks for it to be processed. Only completed application packets will be recommended to the Board of Education. BOE approval is required prior to accepting any substitute jobs.
- Go to stedi.org and choose "SHOP".
- Select the SubSkills option you'd like, and Add to Cart.
- Proceed to Checkout.
- Note: A passing score of 85% or higher is required.
Calhoun City Schools has partnered with STEDI.org to offer a virtual substitute training course. Individuals who wish to become a substitute teacher with Calhoun City Schools must hold a valid teaching certificate or complete a certified substitute teacher training course. Please follow the instructions below to register and complete the online training course with STEDI.org
Note: Calhoun City Schools also accepts Substitute Training Course certificates completed with a regional RESA. Individuals interested in this option may choose to do so in lieu of the training course offered by STEDI.org. If interested in the FY21 Sub-training classes offered by NWGa RESA you register at www.nwgaresa.com.
