Coaches

Brant Murry (head coach)- Works with sprinters, hurdlers, horizontal jumpers, and relays.  Coach Murry has served as the boys head coach at CHS from 2011-present and as the girls head coach from 2014-present.  During his tenure, he has coached CHS boys to 8 region championships and CHS girls to 3 region championships.  He has coached 4 state champions, 15 state runner-up finishers, 64 other state finishers, 185 sectional qualifiers, 93 individual region champions, and 85 region runner-up finishers.  48 boys have also earned All-Area Team nominations and 20 girls have earned All-Area Team nominations.  He served as an asst. coach from 2007-2010.  

Raymond Hobby (asst. coach)- Works with throwers and vertical jumpers.  Coach Hobby was the head coach at CHS from 1999-2010.  During his tenure, he coached CHS to 2 region championships and 3 region runner-up finishes.  He also coached 2 individual state champions, 5 state runner-up finishers, 10 other state finishers, 16 individual region champions, and 36 region runner-up finishers.  He has served as the asst. coach from 2011-present. Coach Hobby is also an assistant Cross Country coach at the high school.  

Lynn Walter (asst. coach)- Works with distance runners and pole vaulters.  Coach Walter was the head coach at CHS from 1968-1992.  During his tenure, he coached CHS to 2 region championships and 7 region runner-up finishes.  He also coached 7 individual state champions and several other state finishers.  He has served as an asst. coach from 1999-present.  Coach Walter was recently inducted into the Calhoun-Gordon County Sports Hall of Fame in 2017.  

Zach Gordon (asst. coach)- Works with throwers.  Coach Gordon is new to Calhoun High School, but brings experience in throws from his days at Carrollton High School.  We are very excited to have Coach Gordon bring his experience and knowledge to our throwing staff.
