Coaches

Brant Murry (head coach)- Works with sprinters, hurdlers, and relays.  Coach Murry has served as the boys head coach at CHS from 2011-present and as the girls head coach from 2014-present.  During his tenure, he has coached CHS boys to 8 region championships and CHS girls to 3 region championships.  He has coached 4 state champions, 15 state runner-up finishers, 64 other state finishers, 185 sectional qualifiers, 93 individual region champions, and 85 region runner-up finishers.  48 boys have also earned All-Area Team nominations and 20 girls have earned All-Area Team nominations.  He served as an asst. coach from 2007-2010.  Coach Murry is also the Head Cross Country coach at the middle school. 

Raymond Hobby (asst. coach)- Works with throwers and jumpers.  Coach Hobby was the head coach at CHS from 1999-2010.  During his tenure, he coached CHS to 2 region championships and 3 region runner-up finishes.  He also coached 2 individual state champions, 5 state runner-up finishers, 10 other state finishers, 16 individual region champions, and 36 region runner-up finishers.  He has served as the asst. coach from 2011-present. Coach Hobby is also an assistant Cross Country coach at the high school.  

Lynn Walter (asst. coach)- Works with distance runners and jumpers.  Coach Walter was the head coach at CHS from 1968-1992.  During his tenure, he coached CHS to 2 region championships and 7 region runner-up finishes.  He also coached 7 individual state champions and several other state finishers.  He has served as an asst. coach from 1999-present.  Coach Walter was recently inducted into the Calhoun-Gordon County Sports Hall of Fame in 2017.  

Katelyn Poole (asst. coach)- Works with throwers.  Coach Poole is coming back to us this year after a 2 year absence to focus on her higher education.  We are very pleased to have her back and her knowledge of throwing.  She is a CHS alum and still holds the school record in the shot put.  She competed 4 years at Samford University and had a stellar collegiate career.
