The Calhoun High School Agriculture Education Program has not only set a pathway for success in higher levels of learning for its students but allows students to address both high school graduation and college entrance requirements while pursuing a passion in agriculture. With a "Learn by Doing" approach, students are given the opportunity to learn concepts in the classroom and apply them through a variety of different projects, activities, and laboratories outside of the classroom to further their knowledge and support critical science concepts.

The Calhoun High Agriculture Program has been steadily growing since 2014, when our Agricultural Program, first opened its doors. We now offer two different agricultural pathways, four different courses, and offer a high school credit class to eighth-graders interested in agriculture. 

• Basic Agriculture Science Technology and Biotechnology

• General Horticulture and Plant Science

• Animal Science Technology and Biotechnology

• Agriculture Mechanics 

The Calhoun High School Agriculture program is made up of three components known as the Three Circle Model. The components are classroom/laboratory, which is the hands-on learning experiences the students gain in the agriculture classroom. The Supervised Agricultural Experience, which is the project that allows our students to use the knowledge gained in the classroom and apply it beyond the classroom walls and into the real world. The last circle is FFA, which is an intra-curricular organization that provides opportunities for our students to advance in degrees, awards, and scholarships. The National FFA Organization is dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth, and career success through Agricultural Education.
