Calhoun Elementary Science Fair

It is time to prepare for our annual science fair, which will be held on April 25th, 2025.

Reminder: This is an individual competition, not a team event, so the science project must be completed at home.

If you are interested in doing a science fair project, here are some things to know.

  1.  Judges will be looking for a “project” and not an “experiment.”

  • Projects require following the scientific method and must be something “testable.”

  • Experiments are a demonstration. Ex. A volcano eruption, diet coke and Mentos, etc.

  1.  Do your results and data show that your hypothesis is correct or incorrect?

  2.  Do you have data collected to show what you measured?

  3. You will need to have a display (usually a tri-board) showing the steps of the scientific method.

Steps: Scientific Method

  1. Question or problem: What do you want to learn?

  2. Research: What information is out there?

  3. Hypothesis: A statement of what you think (predict) is the answer.

  4. Experiment: A series of steps to test your hypothesis.

  5. Analysis: Written and visual display of findings.

  6. Conclusion: The result of the experiment proves or disproves the hypothesis.

Judging will be held in the CES media center on April 25th at 9:00 am. The judges will view the projects, and all participants will be interviewed. The awards will be held at 2:00 in the media center. Parents may attend the awards ceremony.
