Counseling and guidance activities are planned and developed for all student population groups represented at Calhoun High School without regard to race, color, national origin, sex, disability, or age. Certain counseling and guidance activities, such as completing FAFSA, and college applications are restrictive to grade levels only as appropriate. All students are encouraged to attend field trips, PROBE Fairs, college tours, and job shadow visits in accord with school procedures, trip parameters, and proper parental permission. Students are made aware of activities via flyers, morning live announcements, rolling announcements on hallway monitors, emails to CCSJackets accounts, etc.

Parent nights are held by grade level throughout the year as needed. At these meetings, counselors make presentations to groups according to pertinent information (graduation requirements, FAFSA, college access, scheduling, registration, graduation planning, Dual Enrollment, etc.) or are available by phone, email, or meeting scheduled as needed. Care is taken when creating, purchasing, or disseminating promotional materials or announcements (social media posts, newspaper articles, pamphlets, brochures, etc.) that all student groups are represented without bias. During planning of all school-wide or grade level events, the administrative or departmental staff provide input about Individual Graduation/Guidance Plans, activities for others needs for all students.

Counselors and social workers participate in professional learning activities annually to ensure they are knowledgeable about all aspects of counseling related to students in grades 9-12.
