Mrs. Leigh Ann Hayward believes that “If a child can't learn the way we teach, maybe we should teach the way they learn.” As the Assistant Principal of Calhoun High School, Mrs. Hayward is committed to building strong relationships with students, staff, and families while providing meaningful support in all areas of instruction and learning.

In her current role, she oversees curriculum and instruction, testing coordination, MTSS processes, Section 504 compliance, and scheduling for grades 9–12. Her leadership focuses on ensuring academic excellence, equity, and student-centered practices across all areas of school operations.

Mrs. Hayward began her career in education with Gordon County Schools, where she taught 3rd grade for seven years and contributed to the development of district-wide math benchmarks. She joined Calhoun City Schools eleven years ago, teaching both 2nd and 3rd grades before transitioning into the role of Instructional Coach. She later served as Assistant Principal of Curriculum and Instruction at the elementary level, where she oversaw content and curriculum for grades 4–6 and led professional development in instructional strategies and data analysis.

Throughout her career, Mrs. Hayward has held several leadership roles, including Math Lead, Grade Level Lead, and Technology Lead across both school districts. She is also the co-founder of the NWGA Math Assessment Collaborative.

Mrs. Hayward holds a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education from Kennesaw State University, a Master of Arts in Teaching in Elementary Education from Liberty University, and a Specialist degree in Teacher Leadership with Tier 1 Leadership certification from Valdosta State University. She also holds endorsements in Reading, Mathematics, and Dyslexia. She served as Calhoun City Schools' Teacher of the Year for 2020–2021, and she was a nominee for the prestigious Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching.

Mrs. Hayward is married to Joshua Hayward, and they have two daughters. Lilly is a 10th grader at Calhoun High School, and Laney Myra is in 8th grade at Calhoun Middle School. Both girls are active in Calhoun Volleyball. The Hayward family are active members of Rockbridge Community Church.
