Copper Fox

Welcome to the Copper Fox class!

Thank you for visiting our class page! Ms. Alison and Ms. Sunshine look forward to having a year full of fun, memories, friendships, love, laughter, and growing minds!

Let the adventures begin!

Mrs. Alison Schmidt

My name is Alison Schmidt.  I am a life long resident of Calhoun, GA.  In 2004, I married Philip Schmidt, who works at Shaw Industries, Inc.  We have two lovely girls who attend Calhoun City Schools. My oldest, Emma, will begin 11th grade at Calhoun High School.  My youngest, Sophie, is beginning 8th grade at Calhoun Middle School and plays in a soccer club based out of Rome, Ga.  We love to go hiking, camping, and exploring as a family.

I graduated from Southern Polytechnic State University, now known as a part of Kennesaw State University, in 2001, with a Textile Engineering Technology BS Degree.  After working at Shaw Industries for several years, and meeting my husband, we decided that our newly growing family would benefit from me staying home. After being home for several years and the girls beginning to grow in their independence, I decided that a career change was in order.

I began working at the Calhoun First United Methodist Church Preschool in the 3 year old classroom in 2013.  I worked there for 2 years, before the opportunity arose for me to be a part of the Calhoun Yellow Jacket Nation in 2015.  This is my 8th year at the PreK.  I am proud to be a part of this amazing school system, especially the PreK.  I earned my Early Childhood Education Certificate from Georgia Northwestern Technical College in the summer of 2018 to become a Lead Teacher.  I love working with Ms. Sunshine in the Copper Fox Classroom.  I am very excited to be working with your children this coming school year.  Its going to be a GREAT adventure!

Mrs. Sunshine Hartsfield

My name is Sunshine Hartsfield. I am the Copper Fox PreK Paraprofessional. I am happily married to Walt Hartsfield. We share 5 fantastic children. Trey Prater (23), Collin Prater (20), Jaxon Prater (18), Hunter Hartsfield (20) and Lydia Hartsfield (14). Four of which are graduates of Calhoun High School and Lydia will be starting her freshman year at CHS.

I began my career working with children at Calhoun First United Methodist Church Preschool from 2001-2021. I absolutely love working with children, especially the four and five-year-old pre-k age. I will never forget the wonderful children and families I came to work with all those years and the time we shared.

In February of 2022 I was offered the amazing opportunity to become part of the Calhoun City Schools team. I love working along side Ms. Alison every day! I look forward to meeting you and your Copper Fox. We are going to have a great year.
