After graduating from Calhoun High, I furthered my education at Dalton State College, where I graduated with honors in May 2002 with my Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education. During and after my studies at Dalton State College, I worked for the Calhoun City Schools’ KEEP Program and Jacket Jamboree Program. Working in day camp and after school program gave me a lot of “hands on” experiences with students from ages 4 to 13. I attended the University of West Georgia, where I earned my bachelor’s degree in May of 2004. In December 2007, I earned my master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Kennesaw State University. On a more personal note, I married my husband, Jason, in June of 2005.He is an assistant principal at Calhoun Educational Complex. We have one daughter, Bailey, who is a third grader at Calhoun Elementary. I was recently honored by my colleagues as the 2019-2020 Pre-K Teacher of the Year.
Ms.Virginia Acevedo is the Assistant Teacher in the Green Frogs class. She comes from Calhoun Primary, where she worked in a kindergarten classroom. Ms. Virginia is bilingual. She speaks fluent Spanish, which is a great asset to many of our classroom students and many of our parents. When not at school, she enjoys spending time with and cooking for her family. She has three children of her own, who are all young adults. Her children are advancing their education, and beginning careers of their own. We are glad to have Miss Virginia is in our classroom this year, which will be her fifth year working with Calhoun City Schools.
