Welcome to the Green Frogs’ class! We have lots of fun, while learning a lot, too. My name is Ms. Candi Hawkins, and I am looking forward to a very “ribbiting” year! We have a lot planned to do and learn. I hope you and your child are as excited about the upcoming school year in Pre-K as we are!  Ms. Farrah Barton is the assistant teacher in our classroom. She is excited to meet all of the students, as well. Hop on over to our pad!

Lead Teacher:     

My name is Candi Hawkins. I have taught for 17 years. I have taught five years in first grade, and this year will be my 12th year in Pre-K. Teaching is a challenging job, but I love every minute of it. I am a Calhoun native, and a 1999 honor graduate of Calhoun High School.
After graduating from Calhoun High, I furthered my education at Dalton State College, where I graduated with honors in May 2002 with my Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education. During and after my studies at Dalton State College, I worked for the Calhoun City Schools’ KEEP Program and Jacket Jamboree Program. Working in day camp and after school program gave me a lot of “hands on” experiences with students from ages 4 to 13. I attended the University of West Georgia, where I earned my bachelor’s degree in May of 2004. In December 2007, I earned my master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Kennesaw State University. On a more personal note, I married my husband, Jason, in June of 2005.He is also a teacher here at Calhoun PreK. We have one daughter, Bailey, who is a sixth grader at Calhoun Middle School. I was honored by my colleagues as the 2019-2020 Pre-K Teacher of the Year.

Ms. Farrah Barton

I am from Cartersville GA and moved here 20 years ago with my husband. I am married to Slade Barton and we have a 17 year old daughter, Bayly. She is a 2021 graduate of CHS and is planning to attend the University of North Georgia this fall. She will be working on earning her degree in elementary education. I have been employed with the Calhoun City School system for 5 years. This will be my first year with Ms. Candi as a Green Frog and I am SO EXCITED!! Before coming over to CCS pre-k, I worked at the North West Georgia Christian Academy for 10 years and made many friends and formed countless bonds with members of the community. I am looking forward to meeting all the new Green Frogs, working with Ms. Candi, making this year the best experience for the children and making life long memories.
