About CELA
Georgia’s Pre-K Program was established in 1993 to provide Georgia’s four-year-old children with high-quality preschool experiences. The goal of every Georgia Pre-K classroom is to provide students with the learning experiences they need to prepare for kindergarten. This unique program, funded by the Georgia Lottery for Education, is expected to serve over 84,000 children in this school year. Calhoun Pre K has 10 classes and serves 212 students. We believe in learning through play. We have a highly structured curriculum built around the GELDS (Georgia Early Learning and Development Standards). All lessons are presented through developmentally appropriate activities.
Junior Jacket Academy
This year JJA serves the needs of students ages 2-4 years old. The goal of each Junior Jacket preschool classroom is to provide students with the learning experiences they need to be successful and ready to learn in Pre-K and beyond. Our teachers and assistants are experienced in the needs of our youngest learners and provide lessons and activities focused around the GELDS (Georgia Early Learning and Development Standards). Providing a developmentally appropriate and safe learning environment for preschoolers is our top priority in Junior Jacket Academy.

My Name is Cindy Wilson. I graduated from Kennesaw State College and have been teaching for twenty six years. I have taught First grade, Kindergarten and now Pre-K. I have one daughter, Tori Wilson. She is an English teacher at Sonoraville High School. I am looking forward to a fun year!

Meet Ms. Kandi

My name is Kandi Johnson and it's GREAT to be an Orange Tiger! I have been employed with Calhoun City Schools for 19 years and over the years have spent 10+ years in the Special Education Dept. at CHS, School Nutrition Dept./Summer Feeding Manager at CPES. It is truly an honor to work with your little ones to help them to reach their individual goals. I have three children , Katelynn Johnson age 26, graduated from Calhoun May 2014, and Konner Johnson age 20, who graduated from Calhoun May 2019! I welcomed my first granddaughter into the world on February 2, 2018! I became a mom once again to a new baby girl , Everley Grace, on May 4, 2020 who has been a true gift to our family!!
