CCS partners with Mountain Educ

Calhoun City Schools is proud to announce a new partnership with Mountain Education, Inc. to offer flexible evening classes for students starting in the 2025–2026 school year. As the 19th North Georgia campus, Mountain Ed at Calhoun will operate on the Calhoun Middle School campus in the evenings, providing students with additional options for credit recovery, flexible scheduling, and college and career support.

Dr. Brandi Hayes and Mrs. Misty Lewis will serve as site principals for Mountain Ed.’s evening program, in addition to their current leadership roles for Calhoun City Schools —Dr. Hayes as Director of College and Career Programs and Mrs. Lewis as Assistant Principal at Calhoun High School.




Dr. Brandi Hayes
Dr. Brandi Hayes brings 24 years of experience as a teacher and educational leader, having served in both Gordon County and Calhoun City Schools. She currently leads as the Director of College and Career Programs for Calhoun City Schools, overseeing Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education (CTAE) pathways and Dual Enrollment initiatives.

Throughout her career, Dr. Hayes has been a strong advocate for expanding student opportunities, building partnerships with local and regional businesses and industry to align programs with future workforce needs. She was honored as the 2022 Administrator of the Year by the Georgia Association for Career and Technical Education at their 75th Annual Summer Conference.

Dr. Hayes is also a proud Calhoun City Schools parent, with her daughter, Hadley, attending Calhoun Middle School and her son, Holcomb, attending Calhoun High School.

She is excited to bring her leadership, passion for innovation, and student-centered focus to the launch of Mountain Education at Calhoun City Schools.


Misty Lewis

A proud member of the Calhoun High School Class of 1995, Mrs. Misty Lewis has strong roots in our district and a lifelong passion for education. After graduating from CHS, she went on to earn her bachelor’s degree from Georgia Southern University, a Master’s Degree from Troy University, and Specialist Degree from Piedmont College.

With 24 years of experience in education, Mrs. Lewis brings a wealth of knowledge and heart to this new role. She began her career teaching 8th grade in Burke County before returning home to Calhoun in 2018. Since then, she has served as a 6th-grade English Language Arts teacher and as an administrator at both Calhoun Middle and High Schools.

Mrs. Lewis is also a proud parent, with her twin sons graduating from Calhoun High School as part of the Class of 2022. Beyond her work with students, she is a graduate of the 2022 Leadership Calhoun/Gordon County Program, sponsored by the Gordon County Chamber of Commerce, and an active member of Alpha Delta Kappa, an honorary organization for women educators.

She is excited to bring her lifelong connection to Calhoun, her passion for student success, and her leadership experience to launch Mountain Education at Calhoun City Schools.
