Calhoun High School freshman Caroline Surratt has been named to Junior Achievement of Georgia’s 2026–2027 class of Nineteen Under Nineteen: Students to Watch, recognizing 19 young people across the state for leadership, innovation and community impact.
Caroline was selected for her leadership and advocacy through Canines Have Crowns, a nonprofit she founded to support dog rescues across Georgia. Inspired by her early volunteer experiences with animal care and rescue organizations, Caroline leads supply drives, supports rescue events and promotes animal adoption. She is also working on proposed legislation that would provide a tax credit for Georgians who adopt a dog from a registered shelter or rescue.
Beyond her nonprofit work, Caroline is involved in cheerleading, Student Council and Fellowship of Christian Athletes at CHS and serves as Miss Flint River’s Teen through the Miss Georgia Scholarship Organization. She hopes to become a veterinarian and one day open her own veterinary clinic in Northwest Georgia.
As a Nineteen Under Nineteen honoree, Caroline will receive a scholarship to support her educational or entrepreneurial goals and will be recognized at the JA Northeast Georgia Business Hall of Fame gala in March.
