Calhoun Middle School and Calhoun High School have earned the John Hancock Banner and Ribbon of Distinction for the 2025-2026 school year!
To earn this recognition, both schools demonstrated that at least 90% of students can write their names and the Preamble to the U.S. Constitution in cursive.
Calhoun Elementary School was also recognized, earning the John Hancock Banner and Proficiency Ribbon for demonstrating at least 80% proficiency.
Cursive writing is part of Georgia’s English Language Arts standards and helps students strengthen writing fluency, develop fine motor skills, and create their own distinctive signatures.
The recognition is especially fitting as we celebrate Constitution Week, September 17-23, and highlight the connection between cursive writing and one of our nation’s founding documents.
