prek swim lessons

CELA pre-K students kicked off a day of swim lessons at the Calhoun Aquatic Center (CAC) this week. The goal of the program is to provide exposure to an aquatic setting for all students which teaches swimming skills, water safety, and good habits in, on, and near water to help students feel more comfortable and confident around water.

Pre-K students receive a free day of swim lessons through a collaboration between CCS and the Calhoun Aquatic Center (CAC). These lessons are led by Coach Charles Todd and CHS water sports students. After the lesson, CHS education pathway students assist the swimmers in getting out of the pool and ready to start the rest of their school day. The program offering is a team effort, and everyone works together to ensure that students receive a quality experience.

The Calhoun Aquatic Center's ultimate goal is to ensure that every child in the Calhoun City School System has the opportunity to visit the CAC, learn about swim safety and participate in the swim lesson program to become a proficient swimmer. In addition to the pre-K swim field, the aquatic center offers year-round swim lessons and other aquatic opportunities for people of all ages.
