CHS Soccer - Elmer Gutierrez named head coach

A lifelong Yellow Jacket and former CHS athlete, Coach Gutierrez brings passion, experience, and a deep-rooted connection to the program he once played for.

A proud 2018 graduate of CHS, Coach Gutierrez teaches 7th-grade social studies at Calhoun Middle School and brings the same passion to the classroom that he does to the field. As a student-athlete, he was part of the 2014 and 2017 State Championship football teams and the 2015 and 2018 State Runner-Up soccer teams. He went on to play two years of collegiate soccer at Shorter University. He later returned to CHS as an assistant coach for Boys Soccer and was a member of the 2024 CHS Football State Championship coaching staff. Known for his positive energy and commitment to student growth, Coach Gutierrez is excited to lead the Jackets into their next chapter.

With three years of coaching experience, he’s recognized for building a strong team culture and helping players reach their full potential—both on and off the field.

Coach Gutierrez shared, “It’s an incredible honor to lead a program that I was once able to captain as a player and now lead as the head coach. As a former Yellow Jacket, I take great pride in continuing the tradition of excellence here at Calhoun. I’m excited to build on the foundation already in place and help our student-athletes grow both on and off the field.”

Calhoun Athletics looks forward to a bright future for CHS Boys Soccer under Coach Gutierrez’s leadership. Go Jackets!
