CALHOUN, GA – November 17, 2025 – The Calhoun City Schools Board of Education is pleased to announce the selection of Jeffrey M. Hood to fill the vacant Post 4 seat on the Board. Mr. Hood, a long-time resident of Calhoun and a prominent local attorney, brings a wealth of professional experience and a deep personal commitment to the community and its students.
Mr. Hood's interest in serving on the Board stems from his sincere belief in the excellence, care, and dedication that defines the Calhoun City Schools system. As a proud parent, he has witnessed the quality of education firsthand. He and his wife, Heather, have three boys. Reece and Ryan are graduates of the Class of 2022 and Ryder is a junior at Calhoun High School.
Hood shared that he is eager to contribute his time and experience to help sustain and build upon the system’s reputation for excellence. He shares the system's commitment to ensuring that schools continue to provide exceptional opportunities for every child to thrive academically, socially, and personally.
Mr. Hood’s legal career has provided him with essential skills that will benefit his service on the Board. Hood is a graduate of the University of Georgia, where he earned his bachelor's degree in risk management and insurance in 1996. He went on to obtain his Juris Doctor from the University of Georgia School of Law in 1999. After passing the Georgia Bar Examination in 1999, he has spent the majority of his professional career as a trial attorney and partner with the Hood Law Firm, which has offices in Calhoun and Cartersville. His professional background has provided him with extensive experience in analytical decision-making, problem-solving, and collaboration. He has worked with diverse teams on complex matters, requiring careful consideration of competing priorities—skills he will bring to the Board.
Mr. Hood expressed his honor in joining the Board and his commitment to preserving the system's foundation of excellence while embracing innovation and forward-thinking strategies that prepare students for an increasingly challenging and complex world.
