
Calhoun, GA — Calhoun City Schools has announced Scott Carter as the new head volleyball coach at Calhoun High School, following the decision of Coach Jennifer Quinn to step down after four impactful seasons leading the Lady Jackets.
Coach Quinn’s tenure at Calhoun High School was marked by historic success and excellence. Under her leadership, the Lady Jackets earned a State Runner-Up finish in 2024 and followed with a Final Four appearance in 2025, firmly establishing the program as one of GHSA's top volleyball programs. Calhoun City Schools extends its sincere appreciation to Coach Quinn for her leadership, dedication, and lasting impact on student-athletes and the program.

Coach Carter steps into the role with extensive experience and a proven record of program growth. For the past two seasons, he has served as the Calhoun Middle School volleyball coach, leading the program to two region championships while expanding participation and strengthening the district’s volleyball pipeline. He brings more than 30 years of volleyball experience across multiple levels and is known for his commitment to player development and program continuity. In addition to his coaching role, Coach Carter serves as an ESS teacher at Calhoun High School.
In conjunction with this transition, Calhoun City Schools has named Jheri Hawkins as the new head volleyball coach at Calhoun Middle School.

Coach Hawkins most recently served as an assistant coach at Calhoun High School during the 2025 season and brings several years of prior coaching experience. She currently teaches fourth grade at Calhoun Elementary School and is recognized for her dedication to player development, emphasis on skill growth, and commitment to fostering a positive, supportive team culture both on and off the court. Her passion for mentorship and alignment with the district’s values position her well to lead the middle school program and continue developing the next generation of Lady Jackets.
Both Coach Carter and Coach Hawkins will officially assume their new roles ahead of the upcoming volleyball season, reinforcing Calhoun City Schools’ commitment to continuity, growth, and excellence across all levels of the volleyball program.
