CHS TOTY - S. Benham (26-27)

Calhoun High School is proud to announce Skylar Benham as the 2026-2027 Teacher of the Year.

Mr. Benham is currently in his 11th year in education and his second year at Calhoun High School, where he teaches 9th Grade Foundations of Success along with 12th Grade Economics and Government. He also serves as Senior Advisor, helping plan and lead many of the experiences and traditions that make senior year memorable for CHS students.

He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Middle Grades Education and a Master’s Degree in Instructional Technology from Kennesaw State University. He also earned a Specialist Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Piedmont University and holds an endorsement in gifted education.

Skylar is the son of Pastor Kenneth and Sabrina Benham. He also shares a strong connection to the CHS community through his sister, Mrs. Misty Lewis, a CHS Class of 1995 graduate, and his nephews, Christian and Christopher Lewis, CHS Class of 2022 graduates.

Colleagues describe Mr. Benham as a dedicated educator, supportive teammate, and positive leader who works tirelessly to create meaningful experiences for students both inside and outside the classroom. He is known for building strong relationships with students, creating engaging and relatable lessons, and helping students feel seen, valued, and connected throughout their high school journey. His passion for students, strong work ethic, and commitment to excellence make a lasting impact across the CHS community.

CHS SMOTY - L. Harris (26-27)

Calhoun High School is proud to announce Lisa Harris as the 2026-2027 Staff Member of the Year.

Mrs. Harris serves as the Office Manager at Calhoun High School and brings a wealth of experience to CHS, having supported students and staff at the primary, middle, and high school levels throughout Calhoun City Schools. Prior to working in education, she served as an assistant for a Fortune 500 company and was featured in Forbes Magazine.

Colleagues describe Lisa as the heartbeat of CHS and a shining example of servant leadership. She is known for creating a welcoming and positive atmosphere while keeping the front office running smoothly and efficiently each day. Her professionalism, organization, compassion, and willingness to support others make a lasting impact on students, families, staff, and the entire CHS community.
