Calhoun High School senior Annie Eickman has been named a Semifinalist in the 2027 National Merit Scholarship Program, earning recognition among some of the nation’s top high school students.
Annie is one of approximately 16,000 students nationwide selected for the honor. More than 1.3 million students entered the 2027 program by taking the 2025 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).
Now, Annie will have the opportunity to advance to Finalist standing and compete for National Merit Scholarships awarded in the spring.
“We are incredibly proud of Annie for being named a National Merit Semifinalist. She is an outstanding student and leader whose academic excellence and strong character make her an exceptional representative of CHS,” said Calhoun High School Principal Dr. Allison Eubanks.
Annie’s success at Calhoun extends well beyond the classroom. A standout member of the Lady Jackets golf team, she helped bring home the 2026 AAA State Championship and earned All-State honors.Annie’s success at Calhoun extends well beyond the classroom. She has also been a four-year member of the CHS Swim Team, serving as captain for two years. During her time on the team, she helped the Lady Jackets earn a third-place team finish, was part of two bronze-medal relay teams, and earned Second Team All-State honors in swimming.
Annie’s leadership is also evident throughout CHS. She currently serves as Co-President of the CHS Beta Club, Secretary of the French Honor Society, and Co-Captain of the CHS Color Guard, where she has been a member all four years of high school. Her accomplishments reflect not only her talent as a student-athlete, but also her commitment, leadership, and dedication to Calhoun High School. Following graduation, Annie plans to attend a four-year university to study biomedical engineering, with a focus on pharmaceutical development.
The recognition also carries on a special family connection at CHS. Annie’s brother, Nate Eickman, was named a National Merit Semifinalist as a Calhoun High School senior in 2023.
Approximately 15,000 Semifinalists are expected to advance to the Finalist level, with Finalists announced beginning in February.
