FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Date: March 15, 2026
Due to a severe weather system moving through the area overnight and into the early morning hours, Calhoun City Schools will operate on a two-hour delay tomorrow, Monday, March 16, 2026.
The safety of our students, staff, and community is our top priority. The current forecast for Calhoun indicates the potential for severe weather, and we want to ensure road conditions are safe for travel.
What this means for families:
• Drop-off Times: Please adjust your child’s regular drop-off time by adding two hours. For example, if you normally drop your child off at 7:30 AM, the new time will be 9:30 AM.
• Bus Routes: Buses will run exactly two hours behind their normal schedule. If the bus usually arrives at 6:30 AM, expect it at 8:30 AM.
• School Start: All school start times are delayed by two hours from their normal schedule.
We will continue to monitor the situation closely alongside local emergency management. Should conditions require further changes, updates will be posted on our official website and social media channels.
Stay safe, and we look forward to seeing our Yellow Jackets tomorrow morning!
Go Jackets!

Calhoun City Schools will continue to monitor conditions and share updates as needed. Stay warm and stay safe, Jackets!

We ask families to please be mindful of cold temperatures and ensure students are dressed appropriately. Bus routes may take a little longer than usual as drivers use extra caution.
At this time, roads are dry with only limited, isolated patches of ice that are not expected to impact travel. We appreciate your continued partnership as we prioritize safety.

Due to ongoing weather concerns and the threat of hazardous road conditions, Calhoun City Schools will be closed on Monday, January 26, 2026. This decision is being made out of an abundance of caution to ensure the safety of our students, staff, and families.
We will continue to closely monitor weather conditions and will communicate any additional closures or delays as we evaluate the situation. Stay safe and warm, Jackets!

If snow and/or ice impacts our area, school closure is likely for Monday and potentially Tuesday due to low temperatures combined with forecast precipitation. We encourage families to begin preparing now.
The safety of our students and staff remains our top priority. We will continue to share updates with families, staff and community as conditions develop.
Thank you for your continued support!

Thank you for your partnership and flexibility as we prioritize safety. Please continue to watch for updates from Calhoun City Schools as additional information becomes available.

Emergency Warming Shelters Available This Weekend:
Due to expected winter weather and extreme cold, several local organizations are offering emergency warming shelters this weekend for individuals and families in need. Locations include the Voluntary Action Center, Providence Men’s Rescue Mission, Crane Eater Community Church, and the Fairmount Community Center.
Each site offers a warm place to rest, with specific guidelines for families, men, women, children, and pets. Please review the graphics for locations, times, and details. Transportation assistance is available through Calhoun City Police Department and local law enforcement if needed.
If you or someone you know needs a warm place during this cold weather, please take advantage of these resources and share this information with others who may need it.
