🐝 Happy 100th Day of School, Jackets! 🐝
United We Stand. Together We SWARM!
Even on this chilly day, we’re ready to give our best! Reminder: We’re operating on a 2-hour delay today. Stay warm, and let’s SWARM! #ProudToBeAYellowJacket

WINTER WEATHER UPDATE: 2-HOUR DELAY WEDNESDAY, JAN. 22 | Calhoun City Schools continues to monitor weather conditions in partnership with Georgia Emergency Management officials. At this time, we have made the decision to operate on a 2-hour delay for Wednesday, January 22, 2025.
(Note: If precipitation occurs overnight, this will be re-evaluated, and a decision to close may be warranted.)
Regarding morning temperatures that create safety concerns: We believe parents are the ultimate decision-makers for their families. Should school be in session and parents have concerns regarding the transportation of their children to or from school, they may elect to keep their children at home. Students will be assigned alternative activities to make up for this absence upon their return. We want to work with all of our families to navigate inclement weather challenges.
Thank you for your understanding and support as we prioritize the safety of our students and staff!

Update: All Extracurricular Activities CANCELED - Tuesday, Jan. 21st
Due to the anticipated weather, all extracurricular activities are canceled for today, Tuesday, January 21. Calhoun City Schools continues monitoring the weather and the potential for precipitation later this afternoon and evening. Be safe & stay warm, Jackets! 🐝

Pick Up Meals TODAY: To prepare for the anticipated inclement weather, our dedicated School Nutrition team will be distributing breakfasts and lunches TODAY, Tuesday, January 21st, from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Calhoun Primary/Elementary School Complex.
Meals can be picked up around back, at the cafeteria side door (same as the summer feeding program). Stay warm & stay fed, Jackets!

IMPORTANT UPDATE: SCHOOL CLOSED FOR TUESDAY, JANUARY 21, 2025 | After receiving updated information from Georgia Emergency Management officials, Calhoun City Schools has made the decision to close school on Tuesday, January 21, 2025. While current forecasts indicate that precipitation is expected to remain south of Gordon County, the possibility of a shift in the weather pattern, combined with freezing temperatures, poses a potentially unsafe travel situation as the day progresses. Georgia is currently under a State of Emergency.
We understand the challenges this decision may create for families, but student safety remains our top priority and is at the heart of every decision we make. Calhoun City Schools will continue to work closely with Georgia Emergency Management officials to monitor conditions throughout the day.
A decision regarding the potential closure or schedule changes for Wednesday, January 22, 2025, will be announced as soon as additional information becomes available. Additionally, we will assess weather and travel conditions on Tuesday (1/21) and provide an update regarding extracurricular activities planned for the afternoon and evening no later than 12:00 PM tomorrow.
Thank you for your understanding and support as we prioritize the safety and well-being of our school community.
Stay warm, Jackets!

CCS TO OPERATE ON NORMAL SCHEDULE WITH COLD WEATHER SAFETY MEASURES - TUESDAY, JAN. 21, 2025 | The National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Cold Warning for North Georgia over the next several days. While closely monitoring the weather, CCS will operate on a normal schedule Tuesday, January 21, 2025. Our top priority is the safety and well-being of our students at bus stops and staff assisting with morning drop-off. Additional precautions will be taken to ensure buses are warm and ready to welcome students.
School buses will take additional time at each stop to allow students to remain in their homes or vehicles as long as possible. All students should be ready at their door or in a vehicle at the normal pickup time when the bus arrives. Please note that buses may run slightly behind schedule due to these precautions to keep students warm and safe. We encourage children to dress warmly as they travel to school.
Schools will be warm and ready to welcome students and staff. Indoor recess activities will take place, and flexibility will be provided with arrival times to ensure safe and warm arrivals. We will continue to monitor the weather closely. If any changes become necessary, updates will be shared via Remind, our website (www.calhounschools.org), and social media channels.
Stay safe and stay warm, Jackets!
