NORMAL SCHEDULE – THURSDAY, FEB. 20, 2025 | Calhoun City Schools will operate on a normal schedule Thursday, Feb. 20. We encourage all drives to please use caution while driving, as icy conditions may develop on elevated roads.
We understand that parents make the best decisions for their families. If you have concerns about transportation, you may choose to keep your child at home. Students will receive alternative assignments to make up for their absence upon returning.
Our goal is to support all families as we navigate inclement weather together. Stay safe, Jackets! 🐝 *Thursday (2/20) will be a GOLD day at the CMS/CHS Campus.

SCHOOL CLOSED - WEDNESDAY, FEB. 19, 2025 | Due to the latest Winter Weather Advisory from Gordon County EMA, Calhoun City Schools will be CLOSED on Wednesday, February 19, 2025. Snow is expected early in the morning, with additional flurries possible in the afternoon and the potential for black ice Thursday morning.
The safety of our students and staff is our top priority. Based on this forecast, we believe it is best to keep everyone off the roads. All Calhoun City Schools will be closed on Wednesday, February 19, 2025.
We will reassess weather conditions at noon on Wednesday and provide an update on afternoon/evening activities. Stay safe, stay warm, and enjoy your snow day!

Inspiring a love for reading from the start at the CELA 🐝📚
Every week, retired Pre-K legend Ms. Mary brings stories to life for our Youngest Jackets, helping them explore fiction and nonfiction. This week, Ms. Paige Hales joined her for a special paired reading with the Lime Lizards and Rainbow Fish, featuring "That’s What a Friend Is" and "Why Snake and Frog Can’t Be Friends."
Thank you, Ms. Mary & Ms. Paige for creating magical moments, one story at a time! #ProudToBeAYellowJacket

🐝 Happy 100th Day of School, Jackets! 🐝
United We Stand. Together We SWARM!
Even on this chilly day, we’re ready to give our best! Reminder: We’re operating on a 2-hour delay today. Stay warm, and let’s SWARM! #ProudToBeAYellowJacket

WINTER WEATHER UPDATE: 2-HOUR DELAY WEDNESDAY, JAN. 22 | Calhoun City Schools continues to monitor weather conditions in partnership with Georgia Emergency Management officials. At this time, we have made the decision to operate on a 2-hour delay for Wednesday, January 22, 2025.
(Note: If precipitation occurs overnight, this will be re-evaluated, and a decision to close may be warranted.)
Regarding morning temperatures that create safety concerns: We believe parents are the ultimate decision-makers for their families. Should school be in session and parents have concerns regarding the transportation of their children to or from school, they may elect to keep their children at home. Students will be assigned alternative activities to make up for this absence upon their return. We want to work with all of our families to navigate inclement weather challenges.
Thank you for your understanding and support as we prioritize the safety of our students and staff!

Update: All Extracurricular Activities CANCELED - Tuesday, Jan. 21st
Due to the anticipated weather, all extracurricular activities are canceled for today, Tuesday, January 21. Calhoun City Schools continues monitoring the weather and the potential for precipitation later this afternoon and evening. Be safe & stay warm, Jackets! 🐝

Pick Up Meals TODAY: To prepare for the anticipated inclement weather, our dedicated School Nutrition team will be distributing breakfasts and lunches TODAY, Tuesday, January 21st, from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Calhoun Primary/Elementary School Complex.
Meals can be picked up around back, at the cafeteria side door (same as the summer feeding program). Stay warm & stay fed, Jackets!
