CHS 2025 graduates LaVaunte Brock and Ja’Nya Montgomery were recently awarded the Charlie R. Morrison Scholarship | This scholarship honors the legacy of Charlie R. Morrison, a retired educator who deeply believed in the power and promise of a good education. A highlight of both students’ applications was their response to the question, “Where do you see yourself in 10 years?”

LaVaunte shared his vision of serving others in the nursing and medical field, while Ja’Nya expressed her passion for inspiring young minds as an elementary school teacher. Their inspiring dreams in education and healthcare truly reflect the heart of this legacy.

The scholarship was presented by members of the Rome Lodge #79 Prince Hall Masons of Rome, GA. Pictured are LaVaunte and Ja’Nya alongside members of Lodge #79, their families, and CHS Assistant Principal, Misty Lewis.

REQUIRED VACCINE FORMS FOR 7th & 11th GRADERS | Per Georgia state law, all 7th and 11th-grade students must submit an updated Form 3231 (Immunization Certificate) to the CMS/CHS campus school nurse by September 17, 2025.

✅ Make sure your child’s vaccines are up to date by scheduling an appointment with their doctor or the Gordon County Health Department at (706) 624-1444.

Welcome letters from Calhoun Early Learning Academy were mailed today! On Monday, July 7, our CELA teachers mailed out special letters to our youngest Jacket families. Each letter includes important information about Open House & Orientation—an opportunity to meet the staff, tour classrooms, learn school procedures, and complete any necessary paperwork before the first day.

📌 Parent Reminder: Please take a moment to ensure your mailing address, phone number, and email are up to date in the Parent Portal (Infinite Campus). Keeping your contact information current is essential for receiving all school communications—whether by mail, phone, text, or email.

If you haven’t received your child’s welcome letter by the end of next week, please call CELA at 706-629-6563 so we can make sure it’s on the way! #GoJackets

CHS student parking registration opens today for seniors with a 93+ cumulative GPA! Online parking registration opens in phases July 7-12.

Prioritizing School Safety | CHS Assistant Principals Franco Perkins and Misty Lewis recently attended the Georgia Homeland Security School Safety Conference in St. Simons Island, joining school leaders and safety personnel from across the state. The conference focused on proactive strategies to enhance school safety, covering legislative updates, substance and gang prevention, mental health awareness, and crisis and facility management. Representatives from GEMA, the Secret Service, and other state and federal agencies provided valuable insights. At Calhoun City Schools, student safety remains a top priority as we continue learning, planning, and collaborating to protect our Jacket family. Thank you, Mr. Perkins and Mrs. Lewis, for your leadership and commitment to school safety!
