CHS Juniors received Class Ring information today, September 3. Students who were unable to attend the class meeting can pick up an information packet in the main office. Jostens representatives will be on campus next Tuesday, September 10, to accept orders and answer any questions.

Attention: Unplanned Early Release Dismissal for CMS & CHS Only - Due to an unforeseen issue with the HVAC system at Calhoun Middle and High Schools, CMS and CHS students ONLY will be dismissed at 11:15AM today. Repairs to the system are currently underway but require shutting down the HVAC system. Due to today's forecast and heat index, it is in the best interest of student safety for an early dismissal for CMS and CHS. School nutrition is prepared to provide grab and go lunches for students at the Campus before they leave. All other schools will follow their regular schedule today, and CCS extracurricular activities remain unaffected. Buses will begin taking CMS and CHS students home at 11:15 AM. We apologize for the short notice, but this situation is beyond our control. Thank you for your understanding and support!

GLISI is an organization that helps schools in Georgia become better places for students to learn, while providing resources and guidance to help educators create positive changes in their schools, ultimately aiming to improve student success. This event will be held on Thursday, September 5, from 6:00 to 7:30 PM at The Calhoun Depot, 109 S King St, Calhoun, GA 30701. Today, Calhoun High School hosted the GA Peach State Virtual College Tour for seniors interested in applying to Augusta University, Georgia State, Georgia Tech, and the University of Georgia. Senior Counselor Kendra Arnold facilitated the event, giving students the chance to hear directly from admissions counselors. Calhoun High School cross country swarmed in their 2024 debut at the 32nd Ridge Ferry Invitational in Rome, GA. The boys placed 8th, the girls finished 12th, and 15 athletes set personal records. Demetrius Clavino led the boys with a 3rd place medal finish in a sophomore record and PR time of 16:09. Senior Carolynn Dooley set a PR with a time of 20:25, led the girls, and placed 14th. Xavier Hinojosa, Walker Hurd, Joseph Jones, and Dayman Perez all scored for the boys. Dylan Duke, Debora Lopez, Maggie Malone, and Saira Mendoza were point scorers for the girls. Leyver Mendez cruised in the JV race to a 2nd place finish and medal. The Jackets will run again in Carrollton on September 7th. #SWARM

CELA Pre-K students in Ms. Shawn's Rainbow Fish class are learning about friendship and what it takes to be a good friend. After reading 'The Doorbell Rang' by Pat Hutchins, the Rainbow Fish were delighted by a special visit from Principal Amanda Swift, who brought cookies to share with the class.
